Beloved daughter, sister, fiancé, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Megan Elizabeth Garbach was a ray of sunshine in every life that she touched. Selfless, loving, giving, faithful, free-spirited, loyal, creative, silly, witty and "champion of the underdog" – these are some of the words that best describe Meg. She found joy in the simple things life had to offer and cherished her relationship with nature. Meg had a smile that could light up any room. Truly, her smile mirrors her soul.
That beautiful bright smile sometimes masked the darkness and anguish she experienced inside. She tried to hide it and often did. She did not want to burden us with the depression that she battled. That was not her nature. Sadly, on February 17, 2014, at the age of 27, Megan lost her battle with depression. Yet, she will be forever remembered for the enduring qualities of loving, giving and being compassionate that defined her in life. To carry out this legacy, her family created MEG’s Gift, a 501 (c)3 not for profit public charity that engages in activities to support mental health awareness and treatment services.
